Reading Your Way To Wellness ? LOL? Love

Between the warm temperatures and the relaxed feel of the season, summer is a great time to focus on your well-being. An evening barbecue can be a great opportunity for trying healthy recipes. Walks on the beach, bike rides, swimming and other water sports are a fun way of keeping up your fitness routine outside the gym. And a day at the beach or a picnic helps give your mind a well-deserved break. But if you?d like to take it a step further and consciously work on your overall health and wellness, I have some great resources to guide you in the right direction.

?

There are thousands of diet books out there but a good one will not only tell you what to eat.? It will also tell you why you should (or shouldn?t) eat it. A good example of this type of book is It Starts with Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig.

?

Other books focus on the fitness aspect of wellness. The magazine Woman?s Health Day has a collection called ?The Big Book of...?, which focuses on different types of exercise and workouts. One of these books is The Women's Health Big Book of Yoga: The Essential Guide to Complete Mind/Body Fitness by Kathryn Budig.

?

If you are looking for book that focuses on wellness as whole, not just the different aspects you can try Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen?s YOU collection. The first book is called YOU: The Owner's Manual and it offers an overview of how your body works and what you can do to make it work better. Other books in the collection focus on specific areas of wellness (beauty, weight loss, staying young, teens, having a baby, raising a child, etc.). You may also want to try Yogalosophy by celebrity yoga instructor Mandy Ingber, which offers a 28-day program to work on your body and your mind.

?

Last but not least I would like to offer a few resources for those wanting to work on their mental health and wellness. If you?d like to work on your confidence check The Self-Esteem Workbook by Glenn R. Schiraldi. Those who are constantly stressed should read The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook (New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook) by Matthew McKay. If you?d like to take this opportunity to get over anxiety or a crippling fear I really encourage you to take a look at The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook by Edmund J. Bourne to find ways to make your life a little easier.

?

I hope you achieve every single wellness goal you set this summer. In the meantime enjoy the sunshine, drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen.
